Gouda Reads: a studio in its pilot chapter.
Available now: a free sample, a story-first planner, six art directions, sibling support, and language and series planning. Private library and production tools are being tested with invited pilot accounts. Live custom generation and paid printing are not generally open.
The intended service combines reusable family references, individually reviewed stories and artwork, complete free digital editions, and managed print coordination. Target print prices are $50 for one book or $180 for four different stories, with quoted shipping and tax.
Konteen: family memories become children’s stories.
Konteen’s public site describes spoken interviews through a shared link, turning family memories into illustrated children’s stories. It also describes illustration choices, recurring people and places, and reading stories in different languages.
That is real overlap with our family collection idea. Konteen is particularly relevant if capturing a parent’s or grandparent’s spoken memories is your starting point. We have not tested its paid fulfillment or verified every feature in a customer account.
I See Me!: established personalized board books.
The US board-book catalog lists many titles at $29.99. These are named products with their own personalization options; the amount and type of customization vary by title.
Gouda’s proposed $50 print price is higher. That difference needs to be earned through creative service, a distinct visual direction, and production care. A board book with a few personalized fields is a different purchase from commissioning a new story and cast.
Librio: multilingual personalization.
Librio offers personalized books and a bilingual “My 100 Words” picture dictionary in many language combinations. Bilingual books are an established category, so we should earn trust through translation and layout quality rather than call two languages a unique invention.
Prices and formats vary by regional storefront. We have not treated a euro price as a US dollar price or assumed a hardcover product is a board book.
Etsy: compare the specific maker and format.
Etsy includes photo-personalized books, AI-assisted stories, digital PDFs, and physical books. Listings with “board book” in the title may offer different cover or paper variants, and sale prices change.
Check the actual selected format, page count, originality of story and illustrations, revision limits, digital rights, shipping, and seller policies. We are not publishing a single “Etsy price” as if all those products were equivalent.
